Gary Pilsworth's Piper PA-23 Apache

Here's my latest from the Pilsworth General Aviation Design Factory, the Piper PA-23 Apache. It's a free download here: http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/v...ownloadid=2628.

Like all of Gary's models, it goes together well. It has ten pages of parts and one page of instructions. There's several bulkheads in the fuselage but no wing spar. It has an interior, but since I shrunk the model down to 1/48 scale I opted for the solid windows. Bird shot was added to the nose to keep her on her toes rather than her a**. I only made two minor adjustments. I made the tires (oops, tyres, sorry Gary) more narrow by cutting the center sections half width. I then added paper cylinders behind the prop hubs so the props can be removed and rotated.

The web site is currently showing 135 people have downloaded this model. Time for some of you to get building and post your photos. I'm talking to you, Edubarca.

Cheers, I have a couple of Airbus airliners calling me to get built.

That's a superb collection of Piper aircraft, and an excellent diorama.

Thanks Dave. Not much of a diorama. I just enlarged a google earth screen shot of an airport apron.

Very nice models but with all due respect, I would have kept the 1/24 scale which allows addition of interior and perhaps better parts fit. Congratulations. And you are a fast builder!! It takes me years, perhaps centuries or even ages to build just one model. Or perhaps I am a slow builder and have little time for my hobby.

Sweet.
Great job building them. Nice finishes.
It really shows your love for this types, and your care for paper models.
Thanks for sharing your builds. Your contributions to the community are always a pleasure to see.
And it is great to see how Gary's kits come to life.

The Aztec was an updated Apache. It is almost the same airplane. Main changes: different empennage, two more windows, longer nose and different engine nacelles due to more powerful engines. There is a fair rendition of the Aztec on ECard models. Mr. Pilsworth's Apache is much more accurate and better model. And how nice to see three different Pipers of the 50s so well built and displayed!! Only the Super Cub and perhaps the Pawnee are missing.
