Murph's Models 1/388 USS Macon
Gang,
Here's my latest 6-week opus: Aaron's 1/388 airship USS Macon. At about two feet long, it looks impressive on the shelf, but it's a definite three-footer (viewing distance). I'm not really satisfied with my craftsmanship. I made my own joining strips in lieu of using the integral tabs, so I don't know if that had anything to do with being unable to get smooth, uniform joints. I used a couple of the formers, but they tended to distort the other end of the section I used them on. Most of the model is filled with my preferred substance -- toilet paper! Anyway, constructive criticism welcome. I still don't really understand how papermate and Pericles get such seamless joints using integral tabs. I know one or both have explained their technique, but I just can't seem to master it. Les (The Voice of Authority) |

Looks good from here Les. Admittedly I'm more than 3 feet away....

It looks very well.I always had problems with fit of parts on larger models.I'm sure you would be more satisfied if you tried scaling it down a bit.Won't hurt to try and it might give you some interesting result.

Hey, you took a risk and tried to find a new way, there is honor in that.
