Fiddler's Green Mig I-320

I became fascinated with this aircraft when I saw the FG model, but I wasn't too keen on the model itself. I had to make it look more realistic. First step was to get rid of that paper radome and replace it with a proper cone. Next I added formers to give it strength. Then came the correct number of wing fences, a tailpipe, forward engine tailpipe, vanes in the intake, antennas...

I was never happy with the canopy and played around with it for days before I finally just cut down the height with some small slices in the front section. The aircraft has an oddly appealing low-slung canopy that must have been difficult to see out of. But it has a real '50's hot rod look.

Well done model.Interesting "shining " effect done by FG designer. It reminds me of old Kranich models printed on very shiny silver paper.

You are right-that canopy could have been designed differently but it is a very hard shape to do it correctly. It's similar to Yak-23 just twice as wide.

Good work refining this FG model. I enjoyed seeing the additional images of the model under construction.

Great work. The added detailing (open speed brakes, etc) really add to the model.
