Fokker E.II - 1/33 - GPM

After a long period in “off” mode (no, the office holidays were not so good…) I’m back to “business as usual” here in the forum. The idea was to show a Me-262 built some time ago but that one will come later. So, it will be a Fokker E-II, from GPM, assembled during the holidays.
It was a quick build, despite the surprisingly high number of parts (621) for such a simple and not so detailed plane. The number reflects the designer’s choices which, in some cases, could be vastly simplified. However, the solutions are not awkward and the kit is very well organized, with nice instruction drawings. So much that, for a change, I decided to follow the proposed assembly sequence almost entirely.
The first pictures, as always, show the kit. As the wing structure card parts are basically “impossible” to cut, I invested a few more euros on the laser cut set, which is also shown in the pictures.

I can't wait to see how you deal with this historic bird.

You will certainly find this kit a lot easier with the laser accessories. I remember it took me a few evenings to cut them out by hand! My finished build can be found here.

GPM Fokker EII

Have fun with this, it's a great kit and an enjoyable build.

Thanks for the interest, friends

@ Bernie - thanks for the link and what a nice plane! I noted that you made some improvements to the kit. I'll show the "basic" version...

The front fuselage side panels are plainly flat. However, they take quite a few parts inside. They will serve both to add strength and to ease the cross formers adjustment. Not really necessary, if you ask me, but the model would not be better without them.
I decided to superimpose the parts to glue on card to the laser cut parts. This way, the thickness is the same but, with the laser cut parts, maybe the others could be discarded.

Ah, the master's back from his hide-away! Another interesting build to come, the Fokker E2. Looking forward to see how you handle the guy wires (that's at least what we call them at the flare stacks in the refinery world).

Good luck with this new project Ricardo,

Erik
