My free Fokker E-III in 1:33 scale
I got this down load some time ago and printed in black ink only. It was just after I started card modeling (you know all that time ago-three months:o) Any how, I put it away and forgot about it. My kids didn't. I have a five year old and a 10 year old who love to do modeling, and an 11 year old how like to start models, then quit about halve way through. Wanting something to do while I worked on the armored card I was making, they got into this kit and did a lot of the "painting" with markers and some of the cutting. I finished it for them today.
The cowling and front end is coated with a lot of layers of white glue mixed with water soluble blue ink to make a metal like surface. This is the second E-III I have made. The first one, the freebee from Ecardmodels.com actually came out better because I didn't have four people working on it, but that one the Cub Scouts made off with. That seems to happen a lot. I am not sure were this one came from, if it was on from our "found it on the internet" page or not. It is copy right by Modele Katonowe 2003, and I have 11 styles including a war prize with Brit markings! I wish I could find the link for you all. Any how, construction wise, it went together just fine, all parts fit fine, and judging from the lay outs on my screen, the colors would have been awesome as well. I am not sure about the rigging, but I did it with one thread on a sewing needle and just stung it into a pattern that seemed to mach the drawing. Any how, this model was a great way to keep the brats occupied while I worked on my stuff, and it was a great build, if slightly colorful! Phil found the Link! http://www.modele-kartonowe.com/fokker/index.html Last edited by ct ertz; 07-01-2009 at 10:07 AM. Reason: added link |

That is the link Phil, thanks big time! When I post my models I like to post were they came from as well.
These models are well worth the build. I plan on doing one in full color and actually taking some time on it, with out the kids looking over my shoulder while gluing! Although, they are getting better at this craft too. |

This is a very good model, and your kids did it very nice. This is their own design, and I bet they had much fun with it.

Thanks guys. I am going to do this again with better attention to detail, starting with a color printer.
My 5 year old picked the color, not for camouflage, but just because he likes green! He actually did a pretty good job in getting things even for using markers. The engine actually spins with the prop! I just came from the other Fokker E-III post, and wow. Now I have a goal! |

Now that's what I really like to see! Getting the kids to sit down and partake in a project such as this. And they did a wonderful too! I tried more than once to get my son involved in models - with no luck. He's simply not interested. But he can sure play the piano!
Anyway, you should hang this beauty somewhere high before the kids decide to play war games in the back yard with it! Nice Job - and keep the kids interested! Ken |
