Air New Zealand DC-10

Im a happy modeller this week but for the strangest of reasons.I have waited since 1979 to build a model of this aircraft. She was lost on the side of Mount Erebus in the antarctic on 28th november 1979 with the loss of 257 lives. The causes, blame for this accident still remains an issue in New Zealand to this day much to the anger of folks who lost freinds, workmates or family in the accident.Thank you to gary and john for providing this aircraft which will be appreciated more than thet could know by those folks. Will try to do build thread when:
A,im happy with my work
B,i can borrow my neighbours camera

Thanxs again guys for your great work i only hope my building skills does your model justice

John and I have submitted our Western Airlines DC-10 repaint to Chris. So it is just waiting for approval. These repaints are based on Aaron's KC-10, John and I redrew it in svg format and added separate joining strips, and some details. It is in 1:144 but easily resized.

The Air New Zealand DC-10 was a specific request from Herky, so he gets the pleasure (or pain) of doing the beta test. Once he is happy with the kit, we will submit it to Chris for sale as well. I think John was working on a Fed Ex livery, and my next re-color will be a Pan Am.

Herky, we wanted to thank you for this request, and for the kind words. We hope that the kit lives up to expectations.

Thank you!

Gary

I see. Can't wait for the recolors. I knew John was doing this and wasn't he also going to modify it to an MD-11 eventually? If so I would be very happy with the current KLM livery.

Hey Gary thanks for explaining that and thanks a heap for the model. It means a lot to me on a personal basis rather than just as a modeller.I will start the beta build this week and post pictures as i go.Im ssure you will have a market for any DC10s you design as they are sadly lacking at the moment. To your last comment i will turn that around and say i hope my modelling skills live up to your design skills
thanks

Question guys. Are there any templates around for display stands suitable for airliners.I want to mount this aircraft with wheels down.I have paper-replikas air force one so i could use the wood effect stand that comes with that if i need to.Just thinking with all the airliners appearing on here and other sites there could be a market for them.I know zeist bouwplaten do some neat perspex ones but they are only for 1;33 military jets

Sorry, mate, but that's in poor taste...a lot of us have connections to that aircraft...
