Republic XF-103 Thunderwarrior (Thai Paperworks)
Hi All
Been on a bt of a building binge lately (catching up of several months on inactivity?). First model is the Republic XF-103 Thunderwarrior. One of several planes I like the look of. Niki |

Interesting looking thing. Am figuring long doors above Air Force are missile bays; and, one reason they are there is to keep missile exhaust from being ingested by plane's engine.

Another good - and unusual-looking- model, Niki.

Very nice model of an interesting airplane.I have never heard of it so I looked it up-the way I'm reading it's an early 1950s attempt to achieve what A-12(later SR-71) and Mig-25 later did. With early jet tech that would be something-remember that just few years prior to that ME-262 was operational with engines of very, very limited life.
You learn something every day-thank you for that |

Interesting concept of a plane.
Being an engineer, I offer an observation: Note the poor location of the nose landing gear ? Right in front of the engine inlet. So during takeoff, all the crap from the runway is ingested. So now you have to vacuum the runway prior to every take off. Very nice build of an unusual concept. I like it. Isaac
