Seaplanes in 1/400 Pre-Papermodelers
As I mentioned before I didn't know I was a papermodeler, when I started drifting from p1@$+1c. First I started using paper, aluminum foil from soda (or beer) cans, balsa wood or card stock. I couldn't find models out of the cannon. This is an example of a mix media. This is before regular photocopying machines could do reductions and we used libraries (or books) to find the information.

Thank you Ruben:
Then I discovered JSC, and I did my first ever recolor (in this case decolor). The Catalina from their Bismarck that I redraw as a Cousteau plane, as a companion for La Calypso. This also was my first adaptation of an existing model, the minesweeper BYMS-2211. I redraw them with an old fashion pen. |

Then I discovered that some photocopy machines had reduction to 25%, so I ordered their 1/100 planes from the golden age of aviation. So I copied the Dornier Wall in silver paper (that I can't find any longer). For some reason at that time I didn't put propellers (I still can attachment them). The final model show its age, but I hope you like it.

Amazing. They all look so good for being so small. One good sneeze and all would be lost. Keep up the good work.

As you know technology keep advancing, now you can find many copiers that enlarge or reduce to almost any percent (although not decimal percents so you round) and in color. So I could be faithful to my scale 1/400 while buying a model or two in 1/250. So I order the venerable yacht Christina that has a Piaggio P.134 (again no props).
