Question Fuselage joining and cockpit tub

There are two ways of dealing with the joining of the forward and aft fuselage sections with an open cutout for the cockpit and when to install the tub.

The main issue for me is that if the cockpit is installed first, then the fuselage joints become blind and hard to fit together.

So here is option 1 dry fit attaching the cockpit tub first

option 2 is to attach the fuselage halves first
F-84F Thunderstreak- Hobby Model 1:33 scale-img_5373.jpg

I decided to glue the forward and aft fuselage sections first. This way, I can align and press the glue tabs from the inside.

Now glue the mid frame and slip the cockpit tub under the forward instrument panel.

After dry fit, glue in place. The tub is flexible enough to allow it.

it never ceases to amaze me as to why combatants have to disguise themselves when it is so plain as to who they are. Same with the Russian and Chinese in Korea or Russians in Ukraine.

History......

Cool Upper fuselage equipment

Here is the housing for the equipment behind the cockpit
F-84F Thunderstreak- Hobby Model 1:33 scale-img_5383.jpg

and installed. Notice that I added small thin sides to the cockpit opening ( in dark gray color ), so as to eliminate the sharp edge.
F-84F Thunderstreak- Hobby Model 1:33 scale-img_5385.jpgF-84F Thunderstreak- Hobby Model 1:33 scale-img_5386.jpgF-84F Thunderstreak- Hobby Model 1:33 scale-img_5388.jpg

and quick status pictures.

add the lower aft bulge.

Exclamation Vertical fin

The vertical fin is very simple one piece wrap around. There is an option to separate the rudder, but it would have not added any better realism due to the tight fit, so I left if off. Also, I did not find photos of the rudder deflection on the ground.
F-84F Thunderstreak- Hobby Model 1:33 scale-img_5396.jpg

So here is is
F-84F Thunderstreak- Hobby Model 1:33 scale-img_5395.jpg

and glue tab is added
F-84F Thunderstreak- Hobby Model 1:33 scale-img_5397.jpg

and attached to the rear frame on the fuselage.

Exclamation Upper spine fairing

In order to attach the fairing to the rear of the cockpit, you need to get the canopy parts ready as well
F-84F Thunderstreak- Hobby Model 1:33 scale-img_5401.jpg

glue the two clear windows
F-84F Thunderstreak- Hobby Model 1:33 scale-img_5402.jpg

inside part now covers the window frames
F-84F Thunderstreak- Hobby Model 1:33 scale-img_5403.jpg

here is the inner channel for the canopy rear link
F-84F Thunderstreak- Hobby Model 1:33 scale-img_5406.jpg

glue the fairing in place by aligning the black patch on top with the fuselage patch
F-84F Thunderstreak- Hobby Model 1:33 scale-img_5407.jpgF-84F Thunderstreak- Hobby Model 1:33 scale-img_5408.jpgF-84F Thunderstreak- Hobby Model 1:33 scale-img_5409.jpg

now the thin fairing that connects to the vertical fin ( that is a very tricky part )
F-84F Thunderstreak- Hobby Model 1:33 scale-img_5412.jpg

and fairing is done.
F-84F Thunderstreak- Hobby Model 1:33 scale-img_5414.jpgF-84F Thunderstreak- Hobby Model 1:33 scale-img_5415.jpgF-84F Thunderstreak- Hobby Model 1:33 scale-img_5417.jpg

My version will have the canopy in the open position.

Nice work Isaac.

If I may comment ...
The back part, behind the cockpit and later on, should be more round.
I think you did the same thing in one of my French models...This is a second mistake...for the third time you will owe me ice cream.

in another matter....
You know that in about an hour, Chris from Germany is supposed to come to a Model Builders meeting with some of my friends in my house.

take care my friend.
