Translations of no English build instructions

I have some models to build that have instructions in Polish, Russian and German. I also see amazing models here that were built by English and Hebrew speaking members. My query is, are there sites that translate instructions from these languages to english? Please assist.

Amoscarmel,

Even with translation most paper model instructions basically say start with part 1 and glue part 2 to part 1 and so on. The best practice is to study the plans/drawings. cut out the only the parts you are working on. study the plans/ drawings again then form the parts and check for fit . study the plans/ drawings again. glue parts together.

If the model has interior assemblies build these first. this is very important on aircraft. Frames/bulkheads on aircraft should be a little under size.
Another hint is to cut the cut line (it is usually black) completely off the model.

Be patient start with simple downloaded models and work up to the difficult models. If you don't like the way it turned out print another one. The more you build the more you learn and everyone has a different way of approaching a new model.

Lastly if you have the instructions in a PDF format or text there are several free translators on the net that will do a paragraph at a time. But you will be disappointed with the results as most technical terms do not translate well and then there is the grammar.

There is no such thing as a "repository of translation of kit instructions". But that would be great.

In our downloads sections there are some translations. But too little compared to the amount of kits produced.

There are several options. Jim already named one or two.
Herky also noted a viable option.

If the kit is printed, you may scan the text, and use an OCR software to make it editable. Then Google translator helps. Google is fairly good, but since it still makes many mistakes in certain technical areas (as noted above by Jim), human translators still have work. That is another option: to pay a translator if you can afford one. But it isn't cheap.

There exists a a glossary of Polish terms related to paper models. It is very useful. Actually I think there are more than one. This is just one of them: Card Modeling FAQ Appendix: Polish-English Glossary

But what I've found even more useful, is to search in this forum (or in the German or Polish forums too) for previous builds of the kit by other modelers. Sometimes their build photos are far more enlightening than any instruction set.

Kind regards.

Technically I can translate Polish instructions but most of the times they are written in such a horrible way even I scratch my head wondering just what the hell did author mean by this or that. You are better off sticking with numbers and following them.

To commiserate, I wanted to build a Japanese model from PDF and ran into all these same issues. No instruction pages, just the parts pages with what I imagined was abbreviated names of assemblies and descriptions of where to put them.

I was very lucky though. More and broader searches beyond Google yielded a Japanese blog about the very assembly process with step by step pictures. That, through Google Translate, got me what I needed.

So, I encourage you to spend some time looking into native hobby and craft forums. You just might be as lucky as I was.

Most Polish designers want you to build in sketch order, than part number order.
