Emsco also had the Douglas DC-6B. Maybe you can get a copy from Scaldis or Zeist Bouwplaten.

And I forgot, nice model. I think the Emsco models are still one of the best brands.

Hi All,
And hi, Ponytail. Handsome build of one of the prettiest machines ever built. The visual rhythm of the one fuselage, two wings, three tails and four engines has always appealed to me. One of the greats. Thanks for your post. Score and fold, Thumb Dog |

Really nice model; great build. The Super Connie has always been my favorite passenger aircraft. Back in the 1960s, as an LT, I would always try to book flights on TWA SCs. If the 1st Class Lounge section behind the cockpit was not sold out, the Stewardesses would always come back to the cattle section and pick folks in uniform to fill the seats. I almost always got the free upgrade.

It has been said that the Connie fuselage was designed after the shape of a beautiful woman. Nice curves. Psychologically speaking business men boarding the Constellation felt they were boarding a beautiful women. If this rumor is true or false I don't know. But no doubt the beautiful shape of the Constellation is almost as beautiful as the body of a beautiful woman. It is no doubt the most beautiful and aesthetic aircraft design ever conceived not only the fuselage but the entire airplane.

What I have always heard is that the Connie fuselage was designed with an airfoil shape. If you look at the profile you can see this effect but I don't think it ever proved in as being more efficient

One of my top ten, which change daily at least but the Connie/Super Connie remain constant. Something just 'right' about them.

There have been several theories about the Connie's fuselage design. Another one is that the fuselage was "twisted" downwards on the nose and upwards on the tail to make a shorter nose wheel and an empennage out of the propeller streams. Who knows?
