Lockheed Constallation by Emsco

Somewhere in my stash of unbuild papermodels I have some old kits, published in the 50-60ties of the 20th Century: a DC-8, Boeing 707, and also a Lockheed Constallation. Where the other kits have a scale around 1/125 the Conny is 1/60. Being this old the paper is some yellowed and dried and will give problems during building. Therefore I scanned it and also rescaled to 1/125. Well I thought I did... After some hours of building I found the model becoming somewhat small. Recalculation showed I made a mistake, so now it is in around 1/135-scale. Had no 'likes' to reprint and start over again...

Build OOTB and no edgepainiting. Being lazy, I guess...:-)

Looks good!
I think the Constelation remains one of the best looking aircraft ever.

Nice work!

Fifty-five years ago this month, I had the pleasure of flying in the U.S. Navy version of this aircraft (R7V of Naval Air Transport Squadron 7) from Tachikawa Air Base, Japan, to Kimpo Air Base, Korea. A short flight, but I am glad that I was able to add the Super Constellation to my list of aircraft that I flew in. Although the Naval Air Transport Service (NATS) and the USAF Air Transport Command had been combined into the Military Air Transport Service (MATS) in 1948, the Super Connie that I flew in still had NATS markings in 1962.

I agree with Joe. It was an elegant and beautiful aircraft, and your model really captures the appearance.

A very lovely Connie. Very nice build. The Constellation is Absolutely the best looking aircraft ever designed.

Nicely done Willem! Some time ago I also bought a 1:1 reprint of this Emsco model. They also have a KLM DC-8 I believe. Suggestion for your next project?

Cheers,
Erik

I have some Original Emsco's including de KLM DC-8. Although I already have a completed DC-8 (never published by the designer) it could be a next project... after Gerard M.'s Tunna and Me-262, and Canon's Wright Flyer, and a AMX-Spacex-9 and....
So much to do! :-)

And often so little time!

You would have to shrink the real deal to get any better.
