VMF221 June 4th 1942 Brewster F2A3

I was watching Midway, the newer one and then the older one and noticed the Buffalo was not in it. The poor TBD1 was but the Marines were missing. I looked around and found all of the F2As are Dutch, Fin or British. Merick has a 1/50th of Midway but that is too small for me so I am going to build a 1/33rd of number eleven. The one that returned and number 1, The flight leader that didn't. I have pictures from a few books and info from the flight museum in Pensacola. I will site these to justify my decisions. Hope you like it.

It would be wonderful to have a large-scale USMC F2A; American markings are under-represented for the F2A in 1:33.

I tough "Kartonowa Kolekcja" in Poland did one in this scheme but I was wrong.Even Halinski didn't do it and they seem to like Midway themed models.

The picture from diviantart is the first one I started working with. It is fairly good.things that are missing are the interior color, it is the standard at the time since green. And the firewall pictures are very difficult to find. The F2A1 pictures from the assembly line are going to have to be the source unless I find something better.

I had thought I had posted pictures but there was a problem. Let me try again. This is the engine. The cylinders were difficult since the heads and rocker boxes are popped valves with semi hemi combustion chambers. It causes the rocker bows to be at an extreme angle.

Thanks. I have been gone a while. The hard drive with all the work on it crapped out. Still under warranty but SSDs cannot be recovered. Started work again and came up with this proof model. Miami, July 1942. This is a test build for fit and finish. the parts under it are the beta build.
