Yoav/Yaron SM B-2 in French livery

Hi all,

Finally I have made the decision to build one of Yoav's models. It will be the SM B-2 in French livery (12e Escadre / Cambrai AFB).
Further a friendly suggestion from Yoav, I have started this thread to show you the progress of the built. Actually, I'm going to follow step by step the Yoav's instructions and there will be nothing really new in my thread. I use to work at a slow pace, having other hobbies to «*waste my time*», so it likely will elapse a long time before the buid is completed.

Here are the first images. Gosh, how much the macrophotography can accentuate the smallest defects!!

To give the nozzle a perfect circumferencial shape, I have found by chance and used two pipes that fit perfectly with the size of the nozzle. One pipe was placed inside and the other outside of the nozzle. This way the nozzle was squeezed in a perfect circle while the glue was drying.

Next step will be the fuselage and the feedback on it in a few weeks.

(To the attention of Isaac. You may remember you answered my question on how to build the rear part of the A-1 Skyraider by FlyModel. I have tried your suggestion. It works a little better than the other methods but in the end the result is not very good nevertheless. My standpoint is that a long fuselage made from a single piece of paper is not the good way to convert a plain flat piece of paper into a 3D shape. After 5 failed trials I have put the Skyraider on hold. When I resume its build I try to stuff the fuselage with polystyren foam and I'll sandpaper it to the right shape. This way, I hope it will prevent the fuselage cover from warping …)

Cheers

Nope, it's a version that has been repainted by a Yoav's friend (Aron). I've dowloaded it from this site. I'm going to try to retrieve the place it is stored in. Otherwise I'm sure Yoav can tell you more on it.

Correction. Yoav's friend name is Yaron, not Aron. My apologies.

In first place, I wish a Happy New Year to all members of this forum.

Progress report on the fuselage build.

It went straight forward, no significant problem except with the nose and its inner part, a little bit tricky to adjust but in the end it's OK.
You can notice that, inside the part 5 of the fuselage, a row of iron nails has been glued. This band of nails is flexible enough to follow the curve of the fuselage. Since this model does not have a landing gear and is intended for a display on a stand, this stand will be equipped wit a magnet. This way the model will be easy to remove from the stand. I've never used this method ... I hope it will work. I have already spotted on web shops various magnets that would fullfill the size and strength needed for this use.

Nice idea about using a magnetized stand for the model.

The Super Mystere is a great looking plane in any colors.

Looking forward to the build progress.

If you still looking for the link to download the free model, here it is:
DGA Home Page

look for Yaron's models
here it is exactly:
Index of /Yaron/Super Mystere B2 French Livery

As a clarification, Yoav designed the original model and Yaron has modified the paint scheme to suit the French version and added a landing gear.

That is a splendid idea-thank you.

I have try it,there is no reason it wouldn't work unless model is nose or tail heavy. With much smaller models weight is no issue at all.

It's really a great idea for a stand.

Too bad I did not think of this idea of magnets when I started to build models without landing gears.
