Smile Aft fuselage continued

Add more sections going forward. Added card stock on the flat bottom.

Some will be cut to accommodate the main landing gear bays ( that's later ).

Stop at the air intake section which will transition to the nose section.

Hey Isaac and Eric

regard to the engine...
Yes indeed, I illustrated the exterior of the engine because I thought maybe someone would want to build the plane on the ground with a partially outboard engine.
I got the idea of some MiG 19 or 17 diorama I'd seen.

but working on the outside of the engine was very enjoyable and I also got another experience with Photoshop.

Anyway, I'm not going to do this kind of work again on an engine or on a part that I do not eventually see.

Shabat Shalom and regards to all

YOAV

Yoav

A split fuselage with the engine exposed is better for the Mystere or Ouragan. The Mirage will not look good with a split like that. My opinion.

Exclamation Nose gear bay

Please note that none of Yoav's designs in 1/30 scale has landing gears. He designs them to appear in flight. Therfore if you want to have it on its landing gear you have to make that additional detail. That requires some surgery in addition to the new gear parts and inner doors.

Luckily, Yaron design this feature to fit Yoav's in his repaint of a silver version ( you can download this on the DGA web site and click on Yaron's designs and then the silver Mirage ). DGA Home Page

So here is the nose gear bay

and assembled

Next will have to cut the fuselage nose gear doors off...

Cool Nose gear bayattachment

Fuselage part 5 will house the nose gear bay. Prior to attaching the bay, I glued a temporary strip around the area of the doors to be cut out. This will prevent distortion after cutting and also help it is staying together properly spaced.

A look inside with the positioning strips for the 2 frames.

Bay will be glued to the inside.

glued on

remove the temporary support

I now added an axle for the nose gear strut. Made of wood with paper clip stems for the actual axle.

now add the forward and aft frames with the appropriate cutouts for the gear bay. They are glued to the bay and bent outward to allow for gluing part 5 to itself.

Glue part 5 fuselage on top

and now add glue to the frames and push them into position.

Isaac,

Thank you so much for these detailed instructions and photos for installing the landing gear. Until you provided these I was reluctant to try to include the landing gear but your step by step instructions will make it much easier. Those of us without your abundance of experience sincerely appreciate you taking the time to do this.

Enjoy Dayton, I lived there for 5 years before transferring to the Pentagon.

Paul

You are welcome. Hopefully you will get to build this great kit soon.

I lived in the Cincinnati area years ago, so Dayton was always nearby, but I only been to the base and museum.

Looking forward to getting to know the area more.

Thanks

Isaac

Looks great.
Do not forget to put a weight.

I noticed that you were using the files of the landing gear from the silver Mirage,
In your scheme (Brown / green / yellow), the landing gear painted white and not gray ...
I'll attach a link again to white landing gear.
