Here are the parts



Assembly starts. NOTE : there are two versions of the same aircraft in this kit. One has the long painted black nose and the version 2 has a short or original black painted nose ( Radom ). Depending on which version you select, you must be consistent with part 4 which has the kill marks. The short black radom has 12 kills and the longer one has 13 kill marks. The longer black nose was done I believe after the aircraft was repaired. It then scored an additional kill.

add the weight if you plan to have an on gear model



glue in place. I then stuffed that area with tissue paper



and the nose is glued

nice Isaac....very good job on the nose section.

but don't forget what Yaron told you....the landing gears should be white and not silver like his silver MIRAGE.
also the houses of the landing gears should be white.
because in your previous photographs, i see that the house of the front landing gear is light gray and not white.


a reference to the subject of the black nose.

After the Mirage accident and the repair done to him in the Israeli Air Industry, the nose was short black, but only with 12 kills.
Later on his service was a period with a large black nose and also after the Yom Kippur War added one kill... Total 13 kills marks.

I just talked to Yaron regarding the landing gear color. I knew that the struts were white, but did not know that the bay colors were white as well. It is too late for the bays now, but I will build the struts white color.

Please note that this comouflaged version of the Mirage had a white landing gear and gear bay interior color.

I have used the silver version which is only correct to the silver mirage.

I have made corrections to my build and will post the repair pics.

This is a follow up to my previous post regarding the landing gear bay colors.

As stated, the Mirages that were painted had their gear bay painted white ( primarily to witness any leaks , or damage ).

Since I used Yaron's silver Mirage repaint gears, those were also silver . So Yaron has modified those parts.

Instead of ripping out the already built gear bays, I discussed it with Yoav and we decided to have the correct white part printed on a regular thin paper, then cut out the parts and overlay on top of the silver interior.

So here is the original nose gear bay



and cut out the white parts


and glue in place



and here are the main gear bays in the wing ( of which the build log will follow later ).

The reality is that the dirty white and the silver/grey are not that much different and would be OK as is. But now that I know ( and so do you ), might as well make the correct selection.

Nice save to you and Yoav, Isaac!

Since the landing gear bay is installed, there is an interference with the cockpit tub, the ejection seat and the nose gear landing gear bay. Primarily Yoav's design is for an in-flight configuration, so he did not concern about the exact internal dimensions and thus the floor is lower than needs be.

but

no problem! Just cut the interfering part and it will fit OK.


here are the cockpit side tabs that the tub will be glued to


fold them in


glue the tub in place


add the top side strips.
