Cool Breaking parachute housing

A common feature of aircraft in the 1960s was the use of a breaking parachute deployed upon landing. Usually it was housed at the base of the vertical tail fin.

The housing is shaped and glued in place

add the control horn for the rudder while there

For the bullet end, I decided to use a wood dowel and shape it on my mini lathe

Gary

Hopefully an inspiration for your F-4E Phantom build. Or maybe build this Mirage version?

Smile Wing structure

The kit was designed in an in flight configuration. So the landing gear and bay is taken from Yaron's repaints.

You will have to think about modifications to the wing structure if you decide to install the landing gear. However, that is an easy task.

The first thing is to cut out the fuselage section that would house the wing landing gear bays. You can be precise if you want or just cut out a large enough area ( which is what I did ).
Mirage 3C- Yoav model 1/30 scale-img_5837.jpg

So first install the kit's wing frames and ribs. Note that the upper triangular piece is glued to the very top edge of the ribs and spars to accommodate the main gear bay.

There will be additional cuts when the bay is installed later

next, reinforce the interior of the fuselage to the wing spars/frames.

This will be an interesting job to follow. Good that you have reinforced the sides of the fuselage, this should also stabilizes the wing structure?

Internal structure is a must, or else the whole wing joint will be weak.
