That's a great-looking canopy affixed to a fine model there Greg.

I just started on this one. Can you give me a quick idea of how you made your canopy? Mines coming out pretty good and I don't want to mess anything up...

I copied the canopy parts, then built them with the seams on the outside so I had a basic mold. Filled the mold with sculpey. Baked the sculpey. Filled and sanded the sculpey to make it smooth. Used the sculpey form in my Mattel Vac-u-form machine.

If you're in the states, PM me your address and I'll send you the sculpey form, assuming I can locate it easily.

Thank you, Greg! I scanned and made an extra copy of the canopy and will give it a try!

So here are pictures of the finished model.

Looks like you made a good looking mold and then a canopy.

Greg,
You mean your Mattel machine actually works on such a large canopy? The little hand pumper works on this canopy?

I ditched mine after the first few tries of making anything over an inch long in favor of a bigger vacuform machine with a shop vac for the vacuum source ).

Also, for those that want a bit more on making canopies, here is my thread for another model I built. Starting with post #38.
http://www.papermodelers.com/forum/712718-post38.html

and the actual process of forming the canopy:

I use Plaster of Paris for the mold.
