Smile Nose repair

I was not careful and the model ended up touching a piece of paper with some glue on it. It was like that all night. The next day, I tried to remove the glue, but it removed the printed surface. Trying to use a pen to fix it just made it worse.

So the solution was to either cut off the nose piece and the lower pitot fairing ( which I did not want to do ),

or

a simpler solution was to print the part on thin paper and glue it in place.

As you can see, that was an easy fix. I did it in another location as well .

Exclamation Tail lower housing

here is the lower housing.

Once formed, glue to the bottom. The secret is to only glue the internal frame to the front and bottom and let it float internally ( I scrapped one unit because it was warped ).

On original planes-what is this housing for? Pattern on the side(near the end) looks like flare dispenser but there was something behind glass facing rear.

That is one great looking Kfir.I wish my hands and eyes were still good enough to do it like that.Thank you for great pictures.

Smart way of hiding the glue accident, Isaac. Unfortunately those things can happen.

Reminds me of my coffee incident that almost put an end to the F104G project. Nowadays I put any coffee cup outside the danger zone, which usually results in the coffee being forgotten and getting cold .

Your Kfir looks simply great, and the camo pattern makes it an attractive model.

Cheers,
Erik

The lower housing contains a fuel tank, rear warning radar and flare dispensers

Cool Canards

The Kfir aircraft being a modification of the Mirage 5 had an addition of aerodynamic surfaces of a small wing forward of the main wing to provide more agility while maneuvering. Note that these are fixed surfaces and have no movement to them ( these are not control surfaces). The early Kfirs did not have it since the mounting required structural support and a redesigned internal structure was introduced on the Kfir C2 version and up.

Our model has these simple airfoils and internal spar that just slips into the slot on the inlet exterior

dry fits first and round out the built in fillets

Isaac,

Please remind me which printer you are using and what you do to the paper to produce such brilliant results.

Thanks,

Gene K
