Chris

Hope this is an inspiration to others to build the Kfir or Mirage models which are of medium complexity, but of top visual satisfaction

Smile Wing frame structure

Since the model will be on its gear, there needs to be some material removal and mods done.

First is to cut the bottom of the fuselage as shown. This will accommodate the landing gear bays.
Kfir C7- Yaron repaint of Yoav Kfir C2-img_6228.jpgKfir C7- Yaron repaint of Yoav Kfir C2-img_6229.jpg

and a quick look at the fuselage only

here are the frames and supports
Kfir C7- Yaron repaint of Yoav Kfir C2-img_6233.jpg

reinforce the fuselage inside sides as they are too thin and will wrinkle otherwise
Kfir C7- Yaron repaint of Yoav Kfir C2-img_6234.jpg

add rolled up card to support the wing spar
Kfir C7- Yaron repaint of Yoav Kfir C2-img_6235.jpg

then glue the spar in place. It is now supported properly.
Kfir C7- Yaron repaint of Yoav Kfir C2-img_6236.jpg

add the triangular support on to of the frame ( not the middle ). There will be a lower triangular sheet as well later on.

Additional cuts are needed in the spar to clear the landing gear bays.

Very nice looking plane. i like the colors and precise built.

To Yoav: I realized that the Fouga magister Tzukit made a fly past over in the musical picture Jesus Christ Superstar 1973. Do you have a plan to make it in 1/33 with some pretty camo? Do you have any details about the planes which were used directly in the movie, Bo.Nr., crews any other details?

Thanks
Pepo

Pepo

I'll let Yoav reply directly, but from my conversation with him, he said he has no plans for any repaint or modifications to his models .

You are free to repaint if you wish.

Pepo .... Isaac presented my words in the best possible way.

Cool Wings on

The wings will have the gear bay cut out of the lower surface. Here is also where you can shape the belly portion.
Kfir C7- Yaron repaint of Yoav Kfir C2-img_6242.jpg

Gear bay is now glued in place on the lower wing inner surface
Kfir C7- Yaron repaint of Yoav Kfir C2-img_6243.jpgKfir C7- Yaron repaint of Yoav Kfir C2-img_6244.jpg

add a stiffening card triangle with cut out for the bays.
Kfir C7- Yaron repaint of Yoav Kfir C2-img_6245.jpg

The wing surfaces are now glued at the trailing edge. Don't forget to round the leading edge down.
Kfir C7- Yaron repaint of Yoav Kfir C2-img_6246.jpgKfir C7- Yaron repaint of Yoav Kfir C2-img_6247.jpg

The wings are slipped over the frame and close to the fuselage.
Kfir C7- Yaron repaint of Yoav Kfir C2-img_6252.jpgKfir C7- Yaron repaint of Yoav Kfir C2-img_6253.jpg

as a note: this is the preferred method to use. In my Mirage build, I tried a a method that glues the lower wing surface to the fuselage first and then fold over and glue over the frame.

wings are dry fitted multiple times, adjusted and then glued in place.
Kfir C7- Yaron repaint of Yoav Kfir C2-img_6254.jpg

add the wing root fillets. Note that the right fillet has a fairing for a transfer tube externally ( always fascinated by after the fact engineering ).

Cool Dog tooth extensions

The Kfir is a design improvement over the Mirage figters in that is is optimized more of an attach rather than a supersonic interceptor. To that end, there is a leading edge extension to improve low speed performance ( and some high speed drag improvement ). Since it is added to the outer wing, it is called a Dog tooth extension.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leading-edge_extension

Anyhow, for this model, it is a simple fold over part
Kfir C7- Yaron repaint of Yoav Kfir C2-img_6259.jpg

and glued in place.
Kfir C7- Yaron repaint of Yoav Kfir C2-img_6261.jpgKfir C7- Yaron repaint of Yoav Kfir C2-img_6262.jpg

Simple and easy.

Isaac
The word Attack was misspelled in the previous post.

All is well now and we can go to sleep.

Cool Model building retreat

My Dayton IPMS club is having a weekend of model building retreat. I am packed up and will spend two days of building.

A retreat is sort of where everyone goes to to re focus their energy and concentrate on a topic. As you can see, I'm a skeptic of these sort of inspirational kum ba ya, but when it comes to models, why not?

I will continue the Kfir as well as a couple of plastic models just in case.
