Friends:
thank you all for your kind words and your support. It is encouraging to know you like my work. I'd probably be still figuring the way to build realistic turnbuckles he he he. Others have made more detailed planes than me. The Vicker Vimy by Chapuzas is an example on how turnbucles can be made. Link here (post #13): Vickers "Vimy" / Modelik / 1:33 That's a good lesson in creativity. But, actually, there already was an "epic" build of this kit not so long ago. You can see Dick's wonderful model here: Bleriot XI That, my friends, is really inspiring. He did an awesome job. Mine won't attempt such level of quality. Quote:
Wait... Did this plane had wings????!!!!!! Arrggghhhhhhhhh nooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!

Slow as a snail.
But here's another update. Horizontal stabilizer. Again, used the new textured paper and discarded the original kit's cardstock. used a couple of hypodermic needles as axles. Ribbed with the usual trick of thin cardstock strips on the back. Rudder and horizontal units installed. Struts are 1.5 mm paper tubes strenghtened with cyanoacrilate glue and painted silver with Revell Aquacolor paint. Rear wheel and struts are to be built with pieces of wire covered with cardstok. I made several attempts at that, and quit. Decided to just use tightly rolled tubes of paper strengthened with CA. Yes, the rudder moves when the pedals on the cockpit move. The hinge to allow for this movement is just an insulin needle shaped as an inverted "L", that goes into a vertical tube glued to the end of the fuselage that was made from a regular hypodermic needle. Overall view of the model in the current state. I assembled the front frame out of order: instructions call for the assembly of the front wheels, struts and frame first, before gluing all the landing gear and frame unit to the fuselage. Although the yoke is rigged and connected by wires to the stabilizer, it doesn't move the elevators. They're free-moving, hinged only on the needles used. This is the reason I've delayed assembly of the wheels: At the bottom: the first attempt. At top: the latest attempt. Far from perfect. Will probably use the pair on top despite its mistakes. Just don't feel like spending a whole afternoon again making wheels. And since I know there already are things out of scale and not so perfect finishes, they probably will look fine anyways once the whole plane is completed. That's all for now. Thanks for reading!

A great job, very meticulous and extremely neat, and the text with the details of the construction is of enormous help for those of us who continue to learn. Thanks for sharing Ruben.

Looking good Ruben. I fully understand the struggle with the wheels.

Wow! Wonderful detail. Your picture of the backlit fuselage really shows the model to good effect. The wheels look great, too.

Great tutorial Ruben, accompanied by clear, sharp pics.
And the top wheels look fine to me guy.

I think early aircraft are much more challenging cardmodel subjects than the more modern ones, great work on doing it justice.
