I had similar prolems with my back for years. Usually twice a year I get an acute problem and would have pain for weeks. And this going on for years. Also the occasional rush to the hospital where I would only get pain killer. I had moderate success with excercise which I did because I also wanted to avoid surgery. My girl friend found a special !medical shoe arch support by a podiatrist/podologist (i hope this is the right words in english; something you put into your shoes which helps rebalance your stance). Since then I don't have much trouble anymore (i mean I have to be careful but no acute problems anymore). Maybe you can look for this!

Basically I learned that I sit way too long in front of the computer and need to go out more.

So I send you a very heartfelt good wishes for getting better soon and thoroughly.
