F-104c - gpm - 1/33

I’m finally back to “business as usual” after an annoying (but not serious) health problem.
The thread will be about a relatively recent GPM kit for the F-104. Most of the plane has a slightly shinny finish, which is far from apparent in the kit pictures and cover. Well, there is no reason to complain! It is rather the opposite...
The F-104 needs no introduction. It is a “classic”. The kit, as you can see in the pictures, has 4 pages of assembly diagrams, 2 pages b&w in thin paper and 6 colored pages. I counted 724 parts. The construction method employs a lot of card but I didn’t order the laser cut set.

Thumbs up It is a great kit

Looking forward to this build. I have this kit with canopy, laser frames and wheels.

but

the shiny finish is so delicate that I' afraid of messing it up.

Let me know if you need some external detail pictures as I am very close to the USAF museum and can take some photos.

The construction of the engine inlet side cheeks is also different and is added on the sides, so be careful.

Isaac

Glad to hear the health issues are behind you. I’ve always loved this aircraft. I’ll be following your build.

Welcome aboard, friends
@ Isaac – thanks for the offer. You know that I almost invariably stick to the “basic” kit The available information should be enough. You’re right, the slightly shinny paint looks fragile but maybe not as much as in HobbyModel kits. The small wheels are quite complex and the accessory should spare a lot of work. I’ll get there…

The kit does not include bombs or missiles. It includes 5 external tanks. The pictures show the centerline tank and the very slim support pylon. I intend to make the tanks detachable. This tank is the only one painted in matt grey.

Hi Ricardo, welcome back! I hope you're doing fine. Good choice for your next model, but the size differs from the kits that you recently have been building (remembering a picture you once sent of your showcase).

I see lots of similarities with the KK kit I built 2 years ago but the exhaust pipe of the GPM model is more detailed, which I like better. Also the internal structure looks a bit different.

Good luck, I will follow this one.

Cheers,
Erik

YAY!!! Another Ricardo model. I like the way that even a center fuel tank looks like a finished masterpiece.

Very glad to hear you are healthy and cutting again.

Cheers,
Dan
