Wonderful work Dan. Your work on the petal cowling requires a lot of patience and perseverance. Not my favorite job but you handled it well. It seems to me that cutting out the white areas also could be done prior to assembling the entire part?

Cheers,
Erik

Thanks, All...

Hi Erik: I was wondering/struggling with the same thing. Cut them out before or later...I think I worried that it could have been tougher to get a nice solid structure if I was just gluing the thin petal tip parts together. I may try another one and do it that way just so see. Maybe it would be a better plan? I think someone like you or Ricardo could just get the cowling to look great "as is" with simply butt joining the paper...alas, I think I still need the brute force method of putty, reinforcing and sanding to make mine look good!

Lovely work on your Junkers, by the way. I look forward to seeing updates on that one...

Cheers,
Dan

Evening, All...

I got the top wing in place and the cowling, though not done, is getting more presentable...

Looks cool with all three wings. Cabanes and guns tomorrow if I'm lucky!

Cheers,
Dan

Thank you, Mike! Nice work on your recent builds, by the way...

Did some work on this guy over the past few days. I got the cabanes in easily and then built the machine guns/installed them. They look surprisingly cool considering they are just paper...even the cooling jackets look pretty neat! The fit is excellent...even on the fuselage top. The thought that went into the correct angles needed on the belt feeds and their attachments is pretty amazing. They are level and straight! Not something I'd have liked to figure out on my own...

The cowling and prop are just tacked on to see how things look. More work needs to be done on those...

And...I started the landing gear. Maybe that will get put on tomorrow.

Cheers and thanks for looking!
Dan

Dan, this is seriously good mate. The cowl is reminiscent of the early Polkarpov I-16.

Thanks you guys...an it does look like an I-16 or I-153...

I added the landing gear and it's nice to see it standing on it's own legs! I need to do some puttying here and there and touch up with paint, but when the wheels get put on, it will look pretty dang nice! ;D

More tomorrow...I hope!

Dan
