Battle is mentioned in number of memoirs of Polish pilots i read. All of them had prior experience in Poland on all metal PZL.23 Karas and French Potez and Bloch bombers so Battle felt like a downgrade, however this was the only one available at the time. Soon enough surviving crews were retrained on Vickers Wellington but that's another story.

I think Czech bomber crews of 311 Sqr were also trained on Fairey Battles but never went operational on them. For them it was a stepping stone to Wellingtons.
I'm very happy that you're enjoying Karol and thanks for the additional contributions about the Polish pilots, certainly the story of these aviators is amazing, my favorite is the great ace Stanislaw Skalski.

Nice work Pér and Karol.
The poor old Battle suffered a similar disastrous service fate as the Douglas Devastator. I think sometimes the criticism of both types is a bit unfair; in that when both entered service before the war, they were lauded (and correctly so) as state of the art. But at the time aircraft development (and air war tactics) around the world was proceeding at lightning speed, so in the short space of time between entering service and the outbreak of WWII both were virtually old hat.
In spite of it's shortcomings as a combat aircraft, I still think the Battle is a nice looking aeroplane.

Thanks my friend!

Yes that's true, in fact the whole concept behind the single-engine metallic monoplane or the hybrid surface of metal and screen quickly proved obsolete, with the exception of the American naval bombers, the British Barracuda and the Japanese Ki-51 and Ki-36 but these last two were specialized aircraft. I particularly like the Battle a lot, I consider it a very elegant plane, so much so that its collection shouldn't stop there.

Agreed Pér. Plenty of interesting target tug and trainer variants serving in a number of air forces- including the RAAF.

Well friends, a summary of yesterday's construction of Fairey Battle.

Last night was also the day of my model club's virtual meeting, while the staff discussed which 3D printer to buy for the club, the Battle got its main build.

I think in this week I done this project.

Looking good Pér. Your pics show the pleasing lines (to my eye at least) of the Battle.

On Sunday afternoon, I finished the assembly of the smaller parts and also made the constructions of these sets in Battle, remembering that these are my own design, since Bruno's original model is still from the stage without landing gear.
