That said, let's summarize the constructions of Latècoère 28 that before the move were almost complete ...
To complete the models, only the scratchbuilding of the engine exhausts was missing, which in the case of Aeropostale airplanes were long in different between each other and in the case of the Airfrance aircraft they were short. This was because Hispano-Suiza engines were different from each other. As this was a missing detail in Bruno's model, I built it from scratch. The technique is simple: I basically use flexible wire that I get from food packaging fasteners (such as loaf of bread or cookies) that are wrapped in parchment paper or paper that covers shoes when new to the box that are initially glued with CA glue on the metal and later rolled with PVA glue. After drying, they are painted and installed point by point in their places. I usually use acrylic paint for this type of task. Ah!! For made a precise form I use a Jig for metal wire writting... |

After dry,I painted propeller in wood color, radiator and another details, apply a layer of semi-matt varnish and models is done!
The number on Bruno catalogue is #1444 for F-AJNQ, #1445 for F-AJLO and #1446 for F-AMXV. Before show the pics a write a note about the importance for me of these subjects... Látecoère 28. is a parasol monoplane developed in the late 1920s by Sociedade Aeronáutica Làtecoère, was at the beginning of the 1930s, the most modern in terms of passenger transport, it was one of the jewels of the French aeronautical industry, being one of the first commercial aircraft in the world to be equipped with radio navigation. No Late 28 was the same, but in general of the little more than 30 produced they had the capacity to transport 8 passengers or 200Kg of postal bags, the vast majority of versions being equipped with the Hispano-Suiza 12 engine and derivatives. The Late 28 were responsible for breaking several flight distance records in commercial activities, through the General Aeropostale Company (One of the predecessors of Air France), mainly in South America and Africa. Two of my models represent perhaps the most important Late 28 ever made, one of them is the Late 28.3 F-AJNQ "Comte-de-La Vaulx" piloted by Jean Mermoz who performed the first transatlantic postal flight in the history of Dakar to Natal in May From 1930, this flight covered 4310 km in 21 and a half hours, inaugurating a regular air transport service from Paris to Santiago de Chile. The second is the Latécoère 28 F-AJLO "El Pampeano" by Aeroposta Argentina (A subsidiary company of Aeropostale) that was flown by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, and this aircraft and the great aviator poet visited Rio Grande do Sul several times , as the Aeroposta routes were often diverted to exploration flights with permission from the Brazilian government. The F-AJLO landed in cities of my state: Santa Maria, Uruguaiana, Porto Alegre, Pelotas, Bagé, São Miguel das Missões and there is a history that lacks documentary sources that the F-AJLO with Saint Exupery at the controls on one of those exploratory flights, would have landed without fuel between the municipalities of Cachoeira do Sul and São Gabriel in 1931. The third Late 28 is a example of the 28.1 series after the New York stock market crack that affected Aeropostale financially, causing it to merge with Air Union to form Air France, this copy was used until 1936 on the Paris - Madrid route . Still on Saint Exupery, he also flew on the Brazilian Aeropostale routes, one of his favorite resting places was Florianópolis, but this is another story. "Men grow five thousand roses in the same garden and do not find what they are looking for. And yet, what they are looking for could be found in a single rose" |
