Thanks Lorenzo!
I usually use surgical steel, but since the pandemic started to affect Brazil, I have had difficulties to buy this input so I have used the Rata and Michael Stanley technique of using bristles for wall paint brushes and brooms, I cut, separate the most thin and stick them with cyanocrylate glue. The results are good, although I still prefer the first material. |

Yesterday night, it was the day to finish the construction of the two biplanes by finishing the installation of the cables, touching up the painting with acrylic paint and building wheels and propellers.
This time I opted to laminate the wheels with rigid brown cardboard that was then painted. |

Finished Buzzards!
Finally the two Martinsyde Buzzards are finalized, ending a construction plan started in my model club in the first semester of 2019 seeking to build four biplanes with extensive modifications and with unusual decorations (the other models in the series are the Mexican SVA-5 and the Spanish Nieuport Delage NiD-29). With the pandemic and the end of the face-to-face meetings, all these projects were completed at home, the SVA still in the summer of the southern hemisphere, and the NiD-29 if I am not mistaken in May.
As in the other projects in this series, the models were extensively improved with small details that sought to add volume to certain pieces, insertion of cockpits (parts donated from Der Kampfflieger's SE5a Comic) and other small details. The cables, as already mentioned, were obtained through broom bristles (of a specific type for sweeping parquet floors). As the entire biplane model always requires greater attention from the modeler, even with the added fact that Bruno's Buzzard fuselage is not easy to build, some attempts were made until I was satisfied with the result. Talking a little bit about the plane. Like the NiD-29, the Buzzard arrived too late to participate in World War I, being the fastest fighter plane manufactured in England. Using the same engine as the Bristol F2B if the conflict had lasted a few more months, it would certainly have equipped French military aviation and the USAAC. After the war it was not used by the RAF on the front line, which operated less than 50 units in secondary tasks. However, the Buzzard continued to be manufactured in the post-war period, equipping several air forces, especially the Soviet, which had more than 100 units. Many were used in the civilian market and the F6 version was two-seater. The subject of my two models are F4 versions operated by Irish Air Corps and "Aeronáutica Militar Portuguesa" in the early 1920s. Ireland and Portugal each operated 4 Buzzards in this decade. The models in Bruno's catalog are # 1031 and # 1032 respectively. Modifications and additions: - Insert a semi scratchbuild cockpit using parts of SE5a cockpit from Der kampfflieger; - Add 3D painels in engine; - Add push rods and wing atuactors; - Add full rigging - Laminated wheels. - Add 3d engine exausts In the next post more pics of finished models. Well friends after a while without activities, I return the load, with a contraband project inserted in my construction schedule.
This is a conversion of Bruno's T-6 to one of the most curious versions of the family of this trainer, the North American fighter NA-50 "Torito" (Small Bull) developed for the Peruvian Aeronautical Corps and which was used in combat in the border conflict between Ecuador and Peru in 1941. (Yes, there were many unknown wars in Latin America between the 30s and 60s). The conversion involved an important set of modifications to the original model of Bruno that is second generation, I redesigned the tail, the wings (which in Torito are a little shorter than in the T-6), some parts like landing gear and the fairing of the wheels I adapted some ideas that I saw in models of Brent and Rata, the Canopy, the dorsal fairing were designed from scratchbuilding. Despite the hassle that it is possible to test the pieces several times for a better fit, the pleasure is compensatory, now I understand a little the happiness that Brent and Rata have when they modify a model totally to create another one. More updates soon. Last edited by gomidefilho; 08-16-2020 at 12:24 PM. |

Thank you very much my friends!
Tony In fact, Latin American aviation is a theme that always attracts me. Bruno's original model is very raw, he needs a good deal of modifications (I hope until at some point Bruno redesigns him, he has been doing this lately with his old models). Referring to my bibliography on the T-6 (especially Warbird Tech and In Action) the NA-50 and NA-64 (fighter versions that originate from the NA-16 family) are based on the most modern versions (but they are not yet the T-6). The NA-50 is somewhat based on the BC-1 but with a metallic fuselage and a Cyclone engine whereas the P-64, which was much more powerful and armed, was based on the elements of BC-1, BT-14 and T-6A. For my conversion I used Bruno's T-6 fuselage adding new panel lines to the central fuselage, the canopy, the vertical rudder, was completely redesigned and the outer wing section as well. Some parts were taken "borrowed" from the O-47 as its propeller and engine face cowling. I hope in this week finish this project... |
