Well friends.
Yesterday I practically finished the main construction of yet another model of the quadruple assembly project. He was the companion of the Ki-21, the Nakajima Ki-27 repainted by his friend Rata in a colorful and nice outline with the camouflaged wings and horizontal stabilizers and the fuselage in gray IJA, this unique scheme was from the sentai hombu, 77th sentai based in Thailand in 1941, when this country was realigned with Japan. Model repainted brilliantly by friend Rata. About this subject Rata make a wonderful tutorial how to make a Ki-27 (the tips is a high value to build any 1/100 model... How I Build a 1/100 Model The construction method has some variations on the theme, the main thing is that I don't share the wings like Rata does in its assembly. This model has only one flaw that needs some adjustments: the wing fillets are undersized and need some adjustments to fit. But apart from this little problem it is a beautiful model to be built being very easy and quick to do. So much so that in the spirit of Bruno I practically finished it "in a day without work". The wings had been previously assembled last week during the virtual meeting of my model club. The fuselage, canopy, tail and legs were assembled in a few hours, the other customization was to turn the engine into a former and round off with a bolter, pressing the piece into a rubber the final part of the cowling as in the original. Ki-27IIb Finished
Well my friends. The second model of the quadruple assembly is finished. This time another Ki-27 and another repainted by friend Rata, I will not talk here about the unit that the real plane belonged to, despite the interesting camouflage scheme, see my thread on the Franco-Thai war of 1940 about it.
As with the first Ki-27, this assembly was quick and with few modifications to know: - volumetrization of the internal wing support; - transform engine plate a laminated former; - addition of engine exhaust; - addition of pitot tube; - lamination of wheels; - addition of radio antenna cables. The model is based from #3052/53 from original Bruno Catalogue. |

Turn to french planes again.
Last night I worked exclusively on the DB-7. It is a beautiful model that has been missing from my collection for a long time. I hope that one day Brent will make other versions like Havoc and Boston I. In the photos the fuselage is completely complete with the vertical tail. the windshield had to have some minor adjustments to fit. My expectation today is to work on the wings and maybe have this complete model on the weekend as well. Stay tuned. |
