We operated out of Chu Lai. I flew quite a few dawn & dusk rocket patrols with the Marines in Da Nang.

Small world. I diverted there a few times for fuel and/or weather in '69 (F-4, Cam Rahn Bay). And talk about the OH-6, I met quite a few Loach pilots at Army bases like Cu Chi when I'd go fly in OV-10s with a friend ... most were crazy young kids with talented hands and great attitudes!!

Unfortunately Hurricane Ivan flooding took most of my memorabilia.

Oh yes. I flew with them in hunter / killer teams. The OV's would call in the fast movers. For the life of me I can't remember their call signs. My call-sign was Warlord 30 and I was with the 123rd Avn Btln which would have been in Chu Lai when you were in country.

So I haven't been here much in the last year and a half. Started flying RC and am really loving it!! The planes you buy are sometimes rather plain so I dress them up with different markings.

Here is a roughly 1/24th scale P-47D Razorback that I used Airdave's "Snafu" to make a little more colorful. I did a cut & paste from a screen shot and a little fiddling with MS Paint and viola, as they say in Gay Paree, perfectly fitting nose checkers!!! They even have the access panels.
