1/100 TBD Devastator - Battle of Midway, June 1942 (NOBI, PacificWind's Recolors)

My third recolor. This time it's the free TBD Devastator from Thaipaperwork(NOBI), scale 1/100. Originally in the markings from Wake Island.

Repainted to portray:
Battle of Midway, June 1942, T-14 Ens. G. Gay.

Few pictures below.

Question:
NOBI allows us to publish recolors of his free models here?

Kacper,

Nice but to be honest I am not a fan of those dark canopies. To me a lighter color of blue makes it less obvious that it is not a clear canopy.

Terrific Kacper. Always liked the Devastator (one of my first Airfix kits as a kid) and after reading the story of George Gay- the sole survivor of VT-8's 30 aircrew after Midway- wanted a model of his plane.

Maybe I'll change it back to light blue for WWII planes. Or just add second canopy to choose.
But in my humble opinion, for postwar jets, and also some other planes like Skyraider, these dark and shiny canopies are perfect.
I just can't imagine my Cuban MiG-15 with different canopy.

Would be good to hear more opinions about canopies

Started working on Devastator.
It's corrected and ready to release but...

still no answer for this question.

I believe that recolors, even of the free ones, are sent to him and ecardmodels,
for distribution thru his own website and his authorized distributors.

Of course, asking Nobi himself would give you a perfect answer!

However, I could be in error.

There really isn't a language barrier with Nobi. The 12 hr barrier,
yea, can't do much about that!

I like the way Contour Creative does their glass. They do a very detailed job of reproducing a glass look on plain paper. They give a sense of what is inside. This pic is from their Fairchild F71. I don’t think a lot of designers sweat that detail.

Don’t mean to hijack the thread. Just something I appreciate in a kit.

Brent does some neat stuff with canopies too.

But Kacper, don't sweat the canopy thing too much mate. Your re-paints (and hopefully one day your own designs) will and are evolving into your own unique style. I've seen a few other designers give two canopy versions so maybe your idea of doing the same is a good one.

Keep up the good work.

BTW, I've just downloaded your Sudanese FT-2. Looks good.
