Another unsung hero - SB2U in 1:100 from der Kampfflieger

Here we go with another Golden WIngs classic. This time the Vought SB2U Vindicator from Roman Vasilyev. A little preplanning on my part to easily provide junction pieces. Haven't decided yet but this kit even has the option for folded wings. In 1:100 Ireally don't need the space.

One of my favorite airplanes. It looks great in the pre-war colors.

Here at the Chance Vought plant an efficieny expert has been called in to advise on speeding up the assembly line. With war clouds on the horizon these aircraft are in urgent need by the US Navy. One of his suggestions was to apply the markings after assembly to make lining up the markings easier. Of course this goes against all the company's traditions. (Note to forum admins, we need an icon for "tonque in cheek"!)

Here at Chance Vought the shop floor crew and the engineers got together and decided to try inserting some tissue in the wings and tail surfaces to prevent the "starved cow" look. Also to make them a little more sturdy for G baby hands. So far seems to help.

Interested to see how the tissue works. Good idea.

Did you make your glue tabs part of the pieces or separate?

Separate. I cut the piece a little longer and then just before gluing I cut off, edge color then glue it on the backside of the piece. Makes great butt joints in this size.

I remember reading about the tissue paper tip in a build article put out by Design Group Alpha, so it has “traction” as a building tip. Looking forward to seeing your Wind Indicator complete the assembly process.

Work continues at the Vought plant in spite of some delays caused by necessary errands for sustenance, etc. by the head engineer.
