John Dell B-17s
The all this talk of rivet counting B-17s and John Dell's models forces me to share a picture of one of his recent releases . . . this is the B-17G "A Bit o Lace." I think you can tell the excellence in his work and care in research.

It's either Jhon Dell or the real thing... Unfortunately I don't know how much a B-17 goes for nowadays.

It may be redundant, but I feel compelled to add my voice to those singing John Dell's praises. His research is extraordinary, his attention to detail is exemplary, and his designs are builder friendly. He is also in the process of reproducing the entire U.S. heavy bomber force of World War II, so you have a lot of options.
These images were taken last year at the Paper Modelers at Army Heritage Days event at the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, USA (which will take place again on 19-20 May of this year). The B-24 in the case is B-24D-10-CF serial 42-63962 of the 506th Bomb Squadron, 44th Bomb Group, which participated in the Ploesti missions. The John Dell-designed model was built by Kevin Stephens and at the 2010 event, was signed by surviving veterans of the 44th Bomb Group. Kevin presented the model to USAHEC. Don |

Thanks everyone for the vote of confidence!
The Memphis Belle is in the process of being moved into the Air Force Museum. Here is an interesting “then” and “now” comparison. I was impressed at the small details that were restored. She looks beautiful. Too beautiful. She is waaaaay too clean!
