burnishing & tissue stuffing

Hi There,
Could you please explain what burnishing/stuffing techniques are being used? Alternatively, could you please offer a link to the page where they are discussed?
Thanks So Much!
Barry

Find Airdave's P-47 build thread. He covers this and much more there. I think he has his own forum somewhere here.

Interesting how you chose not to fold the struts... When I try to fold them I end up with a nasty looking strut that even when painted looks awful with uneven ends. Your 2 piece strut method is genius (much cleaner looking).

Well, I found stacking/sanding/shaping is the best way to get your wheels done.
Dremel tool and a mandrel get the job done for me. In the larger sizes anyway.

In 1/144, just a light sanding on the edges shape them. Still stacked though.

You made the same mistake I did when I first got into this hobby. My 2nd or 3rd kit was the Marek 1:33 P-26 because I loved the color scheme. Made an absolute mess of it. The wheel pants (Just like on this CR.32) really whipped my heinie. It went to a neighbor kid half built. About a month later I revisited it, resized it to 1:100 and did a half decent job of it. You need to do something easier like one of Bruno's or a Fiddlers Green kit.

For others who might be interested, here's the airdave link you mentioned.

Lets build a P-47! (Photo Walkthrough)

I'll review it carefully

I don't know how to feel about 1/100 (tedious)... I love it and hate it simultaneously. I have been buying a lot of scissorsandplanes from e-cardmodels lately because they are amazing but my attempts to scale them up or have them scaled up for me are hopeless. I need to learn to build 1/100 scale... Your build reports will definitely help me with this quest.

Falco,

If you start up a thread about your troubles, perhaps the knowledge base

One of my all time favourite biplanes and in Spanish Civil War markings yet! Yum, yum. Can't wait to see the finished article.

Texman is right. Post your WIP's and trust me everyone here will be most helpful. Get busy and mangle some paper!
