Finire
(Ms. Google sez that is Italian for finished) FInished this this ayem and it turned out the best of my models so far. I learned a few things which is so valuable if I can just manage to keep them stored in my feeble excuse for a brain. 1. I really like these supermarkers that I got from Jeff Bezos at the big A. They don't suck into the paper like a Sharpie and the colors can be applied multiple times until it is a perfect match. 2. I got a hypodermic type glue applicator as suggested by someone here in another thread. It does a great job of dispensing the glue. I just have to figger out how to keep it from stopping up. 3. Really like the strength that inserting tissue into the wings adds. Now my model shelf won't look like a walk in New Delhi amongst all the starved cows. 4. Made a first attempt at better wheels. I suppose I will have to give in to Texman's suggestion to mount multiple layers on a Dremel and lathe them down. 5. Still learning Airdave's technique of burnishing the paper to shape it. When I compare these wheel pants to the pathetic facsimiles on my 1:33 P-26 I can see I am on the right track. I had no idea you could stretch and shape plain paper so much. 6. When I do bipes I need to sandwich a piece of wire between the paper. Gives way more strength and looks much more like a fleshed out strut than just flat paper. There is also the G'kids factor if and when they get hold of them. I have just about decided to stay with 1:100 for future builds. When compared side to side with my recent SB2U Vindicator the craftmanship stands out as well and they are just so darned cute! Now my dilema is what to do next. I have a perfectly set build list and then somebody like Murph, Michael Dazzo or Airdave comes along and screws it all up! Thank goodness that paper is so cheap otherwise you would see me on the side of the road with a cardboard sign (of course it would be camoflauged and have insignia)

Michael -
Excellent build and an excellent after action report from which we can all learn. You have already built (as the old man says in For Whom the Bell Tolls) "a formidable aviation," and I look forward to seeing it expand. Don |

Gotta say, Michael...I think this one is your best yet. Neat job and a very pretty machine.
Good luck choosing your next victim! Dan |

I picked up a lot of useful tidbits reading this thread from start to finish. The plane came out great, too. What’s next?

Agree with you Michael, that this is your best paper model since you joined us. Gotta get some of those markers that you discovered. Also like your list of things that you learned during this build. More of us should do that at the end of a build. Benefits us all. Great job guy. What's next?

Thanks a lot... you have exposed and overcome all the challenges that made me bang my head against the wall with this kit. I have printed out this thread and I am keeping it in a safe place for when I feel brave enough to make another attempt at building this beautiful piece of paper art.
