Securely mounting landing gear legs?

Ted - I may have missed this in your KI-61 tutorial, but how do you mount the landing gear legs in the wings? Working in 1/50, I usually adhere a small piece of cardboard with a hole drilled through it to the reverse side of the wing skin to insert the l/g wire through, but there must be a better way.

Don, 1/100 is a bit simpler. make a little hole in the bottom wing before losing it up. when you build the landing gear, (i usually print them on 20-22 lb type writer paper) leave the strut alittle long at the top. piece will then go in the hole. it works better if the part closest to the wing wheel well has a little extra paper around it to make a sort of stopper and keeps the strut from going too deep. I haven't had to use wire in this scale, even on the B-17. when i roll the strut i coat the inside with the elmers interior glue. Put some on the forming thing you use before you pull the strut off the forming tool. this drags the glue inside and makes the little thing pretty stiff.
