Ecardmodels has at the moment Bruno Vanhecke's Akron and Macon models in 1/1000 scale and their Curtiss F9C Sparrowhawks to 1/100. I vaguely thought it would nice to have the airships upscaled to 1/100 as well before I did the math: 7.85 ft long even at 1/100!

I think I'll just build them as is!

Cutting and folding pieces:

The glue tabs are very small:

But also printed at the back side:

Everything that was cut out glued together:

and a little dry fit

Between the arrows is done....so still a long way to go ;

Fred, this is amazing. With all that internal detail, it's getting as complex as building the real thing!

Thrilled to see this build report Fred. I have one of these in the stacks and it will be great to have a solid build thread for reference.

Thanks guys
Started to glue the first parts together:

The first part glue on carton en cut out:

The white circle in the middle has to be cut out but I don't do that:

Because I make a wooden rod in the middle so I can hang the ship at my ceiling

The inside:

At the outside you can't see any of the printing at the backside:

But with a little light, here with my phone, you can see it.
So I want make some LED's at the wooden rod.

Another ring and the first tail part cut out .

Remember:

The Akron was supposed to house a small formation of Sparrowhawks in her belly!

And the airship that is being built on this thread is even slightly larger than the Akron or Macon!
