Hi John! I used 4 pennies wrapped in adhesive putty. Fortunately my joint was weak at a front seam so it was easy. Ended up a little heavy so 3 pennies next time. balanced her off with one penny at the rear similarly installed.

I also have your "Little Miss Mischief" - which I will not be throwing ;-)

I have no problem posting the color corrected versions (as I just posted a redraw/recolor of a battleship).

Wheaties Hellcat

Be sure to print the wing page (2 sided) on a nice heavy card stock and the fuselage on regular weight. Also; If you plan on flying it make sure your penny is pre 1983 [?] - they were heavier.

Alas, 13 years ago I tossed my Wheaties Heinkel 113 to destruction in the mountains of California.

Here's a video of the first flight of John Dell's Pearl Harbor B-17. I have since corrected the pattern, threw it a couple times at the couch and broke the nose. It's fixed now but I will be throwing again and post another hehehe

Well done! It would be interesting to see how much different the flight characteristics of the big tailed Fortress would be.

Another Wheaties penny flier. The Fulmar. Took more time than I thought but really happy with it.

Nice build job mate. Wouldn't win any scale contests but there's just something good and wholesome about models like this. Maybe 'cos they symbolize times gone by...

Hi All,

And hi, Padraig. Fine looking B-17C (or D) there. I wondered about the inclusion of the belly gun until I saw your video. Without effective ailerons, it'll be hard to trim your Fortress. I believe the old rubber-powered guys used to trim their wings over the spout of a boiling tea kettle. But, that's probably more warp than it's worth.

I also like your Fulmar, too. It's always nice seeing the old, vintage models in these pages.

Score and fold,

Thumb Dog
