Smile Cockpit tub

The cockpit tub is built. The design has minimum parts and relatively flexible to slip into the opening of part 5. I tried it multiple times before joining the fuselage together.

Here is the tub

here is the fuselage opening in part 5

insert the tub

Once in, I glued one side and when dry, I glued the other side in place.I used twizers to old the tub during the insertion and gluing.

Now add the instrument panel, side tops, rear and forward fairing.

The seat and control stick and gun sight will be added later.

Here is the only reference pic I see of the Tri colored Ouragan showing white landing gears and interior doors

Anyone has pics looking up inside the main gear bays?

Hi Isaac,

Have a look at this website. It shows pics of the landing gear wells and doors. It's not a IAF Ouragan but I guess that all the Ouragans had the same protective coating for the inside of the plane, whatever the outside camo.

Hope it helps.

Cheers.

Thank you for the link. However there is no clear view of the interior of the gear bays . Mostly the landing gear and doors. I guess I'm looking for a photo showing the top of the bay. In any case, I will not be completely accurate for this model.

The Israeli version would be identical, only difference is that for the tri colored camo, they also painted the landing gears and bays white to spot any hydraulic leaks.

You will have a great time building Yoav's planes. They are straight forward and have beautiful rendering.

Looking forward to your latest builds.

Smile Vertical fin

The next step is to install the vertical fin.

and an overall view

Nice attachment and fit

Note:
I decided not to install the horizontal tail fins until the wings and maybe canopy are on so as to not to damage them during the many wing fittings I will do later.

Smile Wings

The main difference between my wings and Yoav's original is that I have to incorporate the landing gear bays. The problem is that the bays have to fit into the wings as well as into the lower fuselage belly.

I tried to use the bays from the Answer kit, but those are not the same. So basically, I decided to make my own simplified version since I have no good reference to the bay design.

Start by gluing the simple wings
IAF Dassault Ouragan- Yoav version-img_6747.jpg

Cut out the doors
IAF Dassault Ouragan- Yoav version-img_6748.jpg

check fit to fuselage
