Wings continued

I decided to make a very simple version of the wing landing gear bays. It will encompass the entire opening with non scale walls nor proper depth. Primary reason is that I have no reference information and also, I'm so busy now that I have no time to spend designing a proper bay.

Here are the bays ( they will be finished white later on )

glue in place in the wings

cut out the lower fuselage area ( approximately. I will have to rebuild that location later after the wings are permanently joined. )

Smile Wing structure

I added an elliptically shaped coffee stirrer to the inner trailing edge of the wing. This was done to stiffen the wing trailing edge and also keep it flat. Amazingly these coffee sticks were found at Panera. So I took a bunch. They are beautifully rounded and straight.

also, I modified the wing inner lower cardboard stiffener to accomodate the gear bay.

next add the kit forward spar. However, I did need to attach it to the bulkhead instead of the fuselage slits.

Now, I added a wood rear spar in a slightly aft location to clear the gear bay. Two sticks joined in the center with a slight upward end.

glue and connect both spars

Finally, I added an upper sheet as an inner skin to allow the wing to slide over smoothly during the trial fits and final gluing process.

Wings attached

After numerous fittings back and forth, I am ready to glue the wings on. However, the lower surfaces to the fuselage are not yet glued because I will slip a small skin to fix the unneeded cutouts.

Isaac ....
Use only the inside of the printed part of the thin paper.
The intention is to use only the middle of the section between the two internal outlines.
I think the result would be better this way.

I hope you understand what I mean.

Smile Under belly fix

Now that the wing is joined, I need to fix the landing gear opening ( that is because it was installed after the fact ).

start by printing the lower belly on thin paper
IAF Dassault Ouragan- Yoav version-img_6796.jpg

then cut the center portion only.
IAF Dassault Ouragan- Yoav version-img_6797.jpg

fit to the fuselage and cut further
IAF Dassault Ouragan- Yoav version-img_6799.jpg

finished

I did not need to slit the parts
