S&P 1/100 Kawasaki Ki-60

One of the things I really like about Bruno's vast output is the number of full size prototype aircraft he does. Prototypes, while often bland and uninteresting to look at, are (to me at least) extremely important. Let's face it- no prototype, no production models.

Only 3 Ki-60's were built. They were apparently a real handful to fly, and as the much better Ki-61 Hien was being developed alongside, the Ki-60 program was dropped. I assume none of the three actually saw squadron service, so I guess the neat markings Bruno has done this one in is a 'what if'.

I've actually got an S&P A-4G Skyhawk sitting there 90% complete- I messed up the landing gear doors and waiting to print off replacement parts. Will post pics of soon. In the meantime I made this.

Turned out pretty good, but the canopy and wing roots gave me some time consuming and ultimately insurmountable problems, so I just did the best I could.

Hope you like.

Cheers, Garry G.

Nice but permit a 1 cent tip: paint the edges before the build and root of tabs. My favorite material for colors edge is a acrilic paint, watercolors paint and pastel...

Great job on this rare bird.

You speak truth about the value of Bruno's vast output - all the rare and unusual aircraft, not to mention the variations of color and design among those that were produced in quantity.

I always thought the Ki-60 had a bit of a hunch-backed and slightly squashed appearance -not as graceful as the Ki-61, but an important aircraft to model. And it looks great in those what-if 244th Hikō Sentai markings.

Another great model, Rata.

Isn't it kinda boring that most of the models here are on quite high level? I could agree with gomidefilho about coloring the edges. It's always some kind of improvement.

Good luck and keep doing nice work! Even if it's boring to say all these compliments

Very nice build. No wonder that thing was not successful with such tiny tail feathers.

Thanks all!

And Kacper, I get what what you're saying, but I guess it's human nature to want to keep trying to better ourselves- especially when it comes to hobbies like this. I reckon that improvement happens a lot quicker on sites like this because you've got that constant stream of encouragement, help and advice from far more experienced modellers. Plus it's seeing what the other guy is up to that fires me up to want to try the same thing. Bored? Heck no!
