Yes, that's the one. The technique I often use to get the repainted livery correct, is to print the whole livery, copied from a photo or even a decal, if such is available, in the correct size for the model. Make sure it's printed on paper, that can be sliced with a razor knife or a scalpel. Dry fit the thin, sliced livery on the ready assembled model and trace the shape . Then slice very carefully a sliver of paper from the model within the traced outline. Then you can glue the the livery in place. Because there are two corresponding slices of paper taken out, the surface of the model is virtually smooth. It is as if you applied a paper decal. I think I described the technique at the end of the DC-7C thread.
I am working on a model of the Super Constellation from E-card, in the TWA colours, and putting KLM colours on it, using this technique. I am also experimenting on this model with aluminium tape that was described on one of the forums here, perhaps Tips and Tricks. It is an interesting technique, but unfortunately, I cannot find that specific thread anymore. Have any of you tried to apply this technique? |
