And with seemingly little effort MichaelS retains his "Modelling Legend' status.....
Amazing the things you discover to use in your modelling. Years ago I lived in a semi-rural area with a cattle farm adjacent. When my bovine neighbours got too close to the barbed-wire fence they often left clumps of hair (fur?) in the barbs. I collected some to rig my 1/72 plas- biplane models. The idea was short-lived because the stoopid inconsiderate cattle grow their hair in varying inconsistent widths.....

WOW... amazing idea... This makes me want to go to the hardware store and look at things with my "paper modeling" eyes.

Got ‘er Done! This one really turned out sweeeet! The wheel pants are a little rough but after 3 tries I had to settle. The paintbrush bristle thang for rigging really is nice. It took me all of 30 minutes to rig her. And that included the real hard to get at ones that I usually just skip like the ones between the cabanes. I even did the double flying wires strengthening the upper wing.
Interesting bit of history. You would think that the last flight leader in the squadron would be the low guy on the totem pole but he was actually 2nd in command. He was the gunnery officer and his place in the formation allowed him to observe all his previous squadron mates in an attack. These Lil Hawks only served for a few years with the US Navy but served in a lot of foreign services in the late 30’s. Kind of like the Lockheed Starfighter sales fiasco. They were originally designated as fighters by the USN but were modified slightly and became bombers. Hence the “B” in the fuselage stripe. As I said before the one purchased and shipped to Germany by Ernst Udet became the test bed for dive bombing and the Stukas that were to follow. Ecardmodels has very nice selection of Hawks from Roman Vasilyev and I don't think this will be my last Hawk. They are in 1:48 but through the magic of math you can do them in any scale you wish.

Excellent build my friend. Looks brilliant. As Sergio said, the paintbrush riostas really look the part- I'll definitely be trying that one.
When you started this thread, I had a quick look at Ecards for this particular kit. I just had another proper look and realized the series has not only export Hawks, but both USN F11C and BFC versions. Be definitely 'gittin me a set of those! Any plans on next project?
