Dutch aircraft carrier Hr. Ms. Karel Doorman (R81)

These pictures are from a rather simple kit that was issued ages ago by Veritas and has been re-done by Scaldis. Laser cut parts are included as well as some details that were added by myself.

Hr. Ms. Karel Doorman (R81) was a light aircraft carrier from the British Colossus-class. She served in the Royal Dutch Navy from 28 May 1948 - 8 October 1968 after which she was sold to the Argentine Navy and renamed Veinticino de Mayo. She was scrapped at the beaches of Alang in 1999.

As Karel Doorman she was rebuilt twice. During the second rebuilt at Wilton Feyenoord at Schiedam she received amongst other changes an angled deck.

Enjoy the pictures.........

That's a very detailed and beautifully built model Hans. Even has deck crew! I'm not familiar with these ship models- what scale is that?

Regards, Garry G.

Don't forget Argentina (with the renamed Karel Doorman) 25 de Mayo, and previously the Independencia, and the French Arromanches.

BTW very nice model, simple is fine when one consider building time and volume in one collection!
The original publication had the H-34/S-58 and 2.5 D Sea Hawks. The trackers came with this new edition.
