See my post to Kacper. Someday we will be the Nation of Earth with hopefully one language. Until that day it is our responsibility to ensure that their sacrifices are remembered.

The Royal wedding was shoved down our throats ad nauseam, but I am not aware of one single mention in the general news media here in Australia about the Battle of Midway. And this country was under a HUGE threat from Japan in 1942. I AM BLOODY DISGUSTED AT THAT SORT OF DISRESPECT.

Sad to hear that...

The Royal wedding probably "invaded" whole world - "was shoved down our throats ad nauseam" - the same thing happend here, in Poland. Months of talking about this event! For what?

I would like to say one more thing. Flisowski's Burza nad Pacyfikiem has a list which contain names of Poles who sacrificed their lives, fighting for the United States during Pacific War. More than 500 names. I think that's why this theater of WWII is also important to us.

News media here always mention Pearl Harbor, Midway, Surrender of Japan.

I really like Kacper's idea of having a running thread with a historical dates theme. Because the Polish people were the first to suffer both in WWI & WWII i feel he should select the title entry. Also as I understand it our hobby originated in Poland. Seems fitting to me.

Because we are all most familiar with our own nationality's history we can inform others much better than a history book. I am sure that Don B will jump in as needed for even more detail.

I really look forward to learning from all of you about your country's history with a personal slant. We need to start the United States of Earth right here.

All in agreement say "Aye" (in your own language). Those opposed can take a flying leap. How is that for democracy in action?

So no pressure Kacper. We anxiously awaiting your entry.

ps. Try to keep the words small for Rata's sake.

Aye has too many syllables for me.

But a fine idea it is WL30.
