trager messerschmidt

Looking forward to the Spit.
next up which seems out of order is the 109T. the T stands for trager or for the aircraft carrier Graf Zepplin. this model was based on the E series that's why I included it next. the wings were lengthened, the landing gear was beefed up, catapult bridles were added as well as a tail hook. the wings had additional flaps and slat to assist on short deck landings.
as the graf zep was never launched the air wing was dismantled and the T version was de navalized and used in Norway on the short fields in that theatre. I left the colors as is, but conflicting reports say the colors were more brownish, one report states it was monochromatic with the red band on the tail with national insignia in a circle, reminiscent of the prewar tails.
as far as builds go this was one of my favorites, as my heart is with naval aviation.

Thanks for the T model Ted. Don't think I've seen a model of that before. You did your usual bang-up job too. Looking forward to more.

F is for Friedrich

F is also for finally a day off to continue this wonderful series. next up are 2 F2 models, a tropical and Werner Molders F2. The f series was the next evolutionary step in the 109 series. yet another up engine which required a whole new fwd fuselage redesign, as well as overall streamlining. the rear stabilizer struts were deleted, the wing tips made more aero dynamic and the armament was once again varied throughout the models. By this time most of the experienced pilots thought the cannon thru the nose was more liability than asset so on some models these were deleted. Molders however, wanted the cannon so his was kept. I changed the air filter on the tropical model so it looked a little better. I separated the filter tube and the forward part and recolored it so it looked a little more realistic....

I'm pretty sure that as just an aerioplane the F model is considered the pinnacle. Kinda like the 20 something model. After that they went downhill and became the fat ol' overweight middle aged wimmen.

I always liked the Afrika Corps camo. Yours is spot on as we would expect.
