next up the Gustav series

The G series was the next step in Messerschmitt evolution. the early Gs were very similar to the late F variants. the early models only differed by engine up rates and fitting the cowling to the new engines. first up is the G2. this is pretty much stock built, maybe some wheel modifications and coloreds in wheel wells

Gustavs continued

Thanks Elliot. Next up is the G6. this was yet another up engine tweak, but new features were added. the canopies were equipped with "Galland" armor to protect the pilot. in century scale this was tough to simulate as it is simply a thicker forward panel and the back of the pilot seat had a stand off armor plate. take it as read that it's in there! the fuselage guns were upgraded 10 mg 131 machine canons. in order to accommodate the ammo drums fwd bulges were added. the wheels were made wider to allow the aircraft to operate from the rough fields that the homeland fighters were reduced to operate from. consequently more bulges were added to the wing tops.

Good to see we're onto the 'G' series CMDRTED. They're probably (at least from a modelling perspective) my favourite of all the '109's.
I know I'm speaking for all your admirers: thanks for sticking to this thread and I really appreciate and enjoy your accompanying comments on the development progression of the full size.

Gustavs continued

Garry, it has been a long road. I can see why Bruno sometimes gets burned out on a particular aircraft series. Hats off to you Bruno for the many designs and color schemes.
Last up is the G-14. This was the last development of the G series. it was designed to incorporate all the G variants and latest 109 updates. There was the new Erla canopy that allowed better pilot vision all around. the tail section was increased in height and was constructed of plywood to conserve critical material . This is a modified repaint from Brent. I used his G6 version to make the changes to a g-14. But why Ted? especially since Brent made a G-14 version, both of which are available on ecard, when the site comes back up for sales. Well the reason will become apparent on the upcoming 109 variants... until then enjoy the last of the Gustavs!

Last of the German 109s the Kurfurst

Last in the series of German 109s was the K series. This was felt to be the penultimate 109. It incorporated the positive aspects of the G series, remedied many design flaws and had the largest DB605D series engine @ 1900 Hp. This allowed it to have a higher rate of climb than the P51D, Spitfire XIV and Tempest mkV. and the fastest of the 109 series 440 at 24,500 feet,(Wikipedia). apparently it was the 1st mass produced version of the 109. The larger DB engine required a modification of the nose cowling. The variant had a completely closed set of landing gear doors and retractable tail wheel with doors. the radio was moved aft to station 5? back a little bit to me. This is what I used Brent's 109 G14 for. I represented the new cowling with a 5% enlarged piece of the existing nose design. I edited the radio door to the correct position, and made complete doors for forward gear and aft doors. This was my favorite 109 model. sadly the file I modified was accidently deleted so to release this for you guys I will have to re do it. I need Brent's permission as his repaint supplied the backbone for it...

Often seen this referred to as the 'Galland Hood'. Is this incorrect or can both names apply?

Wonderful and inspiring thread mister. Any plans in the wind for what's next or R&R for now?
