Tail feathers and tail section

the early 109s had tail stabilizer braces. they are a pain to put on when the other parts of the fuselage were on. the wings got in the way, if you put them on before the wings installing the wings knocked the little buggers off. so I tried building this section separately, and so far so good. the rudder is placed first followed by one of the stabs. let it dry then place those brace things. try as I might I can't seem to get them to blend in flush, but at this scale it isn't that much of a glaring fault. then do the other side. I wait until the wings have been installed before attaching this section. it makes lining up everything much easier imho.

wing "tips" for Rata

Rata you said peonis heh heh heh heh. (picture beavis laugh).

this post is for you mate. wing tips are a skill that needs a little practice and tlc. I use 220n grit sandpaper cut to a small 1x2 inch piece, about.
gently sand the tips, trailing edges to a gentle bevel. if you bend the paper you are using too much pressure. use a new piece. it should gently drag the edges down. then burnish the tips almost but not including the edge. I use a crochet needle. you can see before and after pics. i'll wait till your lips stop moving before presenting the next step.
after properly and gently bending the wing to shape, top over bottom you can see the tips stay together with gentle pressure no glue applied yet. also not showed yet is color the bloody edges! that white seam ruins the best constructed kits. before I glue the wing in place, I pre glue the edges using thinned glue. this pre soaks into the fibers of the paper and allows the final glue in place almost instantly.

Good tip. I have had good luck with stuffin' the wings with paper towel stuff. Add enuff so you have to squish it down to form the tip.

Rata:

Glad to hear from your Solicitor. I live in a state where there are more lawyers than actual people so you are helping Florida's unemployment rate....

definition of a damn shame. a bus full of lawyers going off a cliff. the shame, there were 3 empty seats! apologies to good lawyers, (my wife)
the parts assembled so far. next we have the wings. start at the bottom of the fuselage and sort of wrap them around. burnish, push nudge the wings to fit the associated recesses. wait to dry then get the other one.
lastly the air cooler is installed allowing the tiger maw to be complete...

Beautiful work. Excellent tutorial. Hope to build one of these (E-7 model) in Japanese markings some day.

Reminds me of the other joke:
"Do you know the joke about the ship full of lawyers sinking? No! neither do I, but it's a good start"

And on topic now: Fabulous tutorial series build.
Thanks for sharing (and the publicity )
