Murph's Models N.A. NJ-1 in 1/60 Scale

Just finished Aaron Murphy's North American NJ-1 in pre-war USN colours.

Aaron's original design is in 1/27 but I'm not brave enough to go that big so I've done this one in WSAM scale: 1/60. I'll attempt another later on in 1/100 for my other USN thread.

Apart from the usual challenges, model goes together easily so full credit to Murph's design skills.

Ummmm ..., Michael 1/33, now your 1/60, this is suspicious, it gives you to think. By the way, the model is excellent, very well done !! Ummmm ... I still have suspicious thoughts.

Worry not Sergio. This was just an experiment to get a better understanding of how other modellers have got it all wrong.
I'll never leave the flock. Besides, Bruno says he knows where I live and will come after me.....

Larga vida 1/100!!!

Info on NJ-1 BuNo 0910

Just a few words and images for this model.

The NJ-1 was used by the Navy for instrument training. The red tail and wing stripes identify 0910 as an instrument trainer. In 1940, 39 of these NJ-1s were based at Naval Air Station Pensacola.

The NJ-1 was the Navy equivalent of the North American BT-9, but had a slightly more powerful 600 hpPratt & Whitney R-1340 engine. The Navy bought 40 of them in 1936 for use primarily as trainers at Pensacola, but also as command aircraft and personnel transports.

Image 1 is of 0910 at Pensacola in 1937.

Image 2 is a Navy History & Heritage Command photo of a similar (or perhaps the same) aircraft.

Image 3 is a Navy recruiting poster featuring an NJ-1.

Another NJ-1 Image

Another image of 0910 from John M. Elliott, The Official Monogram US Navy & Marine Corps Aircraft Color Guide, Vol. 1, 1911-1939, Boylston, MA: Monogram Aviation Publications, 1987, p. 145.

In Post #4, Images 2 and 3 are clearly NOT 0910. Different aircraft numbers.

Murph's NJ-1 has the potential for recoloring as a command or utility transport.
