Amorous Grasshopper,
Great work so far for such a rank amateur. Don, FYI the largest ball end I have is 1/2" and I use that quite a bit. I use the larger ones to start and then work my way down. MS

Thanks gentlemen- and Michael.
I quadruple laminated the main wing struts and (like always) cut them out overlength just in case. With the exception of one, they were pretty much spot-on. The floats have a fiddly factor of 10/10, but patience and a light touch is the key. Gotta say why anyone with any sanity would try this in a smaller scale escapes me. Bruno/Kacper provide separate parts if you wanna do this bird with the floats extended, but you'll have to fabricate the X-frame struts yourself. Tailplanes presented no probs but had to trim the roots (like on most models) a bit to follow the curved side of the fin. So nearly there! I usually touch up with paint as I go along, but as I'll have to mix up a home-brew Non Specular Sea Grey, I'll leave it all till the end.

Not a bad job for a grasshopper.

I was thinking how massive this seaplane looked in pics 2 & 3, then I saw pic 5. Tell me how a plane can be massive, delicate and tiny at the same time.

Someone will probably say 'a photoshopped giant hand', but I can assure everyone that is my normal sized hand.

I was gonna do a grasshopper impersonation here but then it occurred to me I have no idea what one sounds like.

Hope sometimes gets!
Well, here she is Kacper- hope you like it buddy. I didn't want this bird sitting like it was washed up on a beach somewhere, so I made up a simple card base. As I said earlier, because of the complex lines of the PBY, this is not a beginner's model. Despite some minor faults (what card model doesn't have 'em?) PacificWind's re-paint builds into a pretty decent Catalina. Thanks everybody for looking and commenting. Regards, Garry G.
