Soviet Fokker C.I (Efremodel 1/72)

Hi All,

And hi, AgaPablo. Wonderful build on an unusual type. It's interesting to see it in Russian markings, too. I was not familiar with the type, so, while giving all credit to those who know far more than I about this subject, here are a few extra notes about the Fokker C.1.

Most likely a Rheinhold Platz design, the enlarged airframe was a completely new design from it's Fokker D-VII cousin. The attached historical photograph shows the V.38 prototype in its lozenge camouflage without national markings. After the war, airframes were smuggled out of Germany and into Holland where they would be completed. The type was robust enough that it could be fitted to carry two, cold and uncomfortable passengers, making it among the first post-war passenger transports.

Some appeared in military service in foreign lands. The Russian markings on the build seen here are interesting, as they only appear in four positions on the wings. Early on, the Russians adopted eight-position markings, (sometimes more) as Russian aircraft were so rare that the ground troops would fire at anything flying in the air. Also, while I don't see a forward firing machine gun on the "Pharaoh" photograph and there is no rear seat gun ring on the historical photo or model, it is a guess that the airplane was used as a transport for high-ranking officers.

You guess right, I used a bit of fuel filter wire mesh for the radiator cowl.
